    • Please note that you are permitted to purchase other editions but you are responsible for accounting for changes in chapter numbers, etc.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Through a series of lectures and discussion sections on the painting, sculpture, and architecture of the western world from Classical Greece to the Modern Era, students will consider the relationship of art to society and to political and cultural events.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Students will:

  • Consider the relationship between art and history
  • Become familiar with a wide range of artists and movements
  • Improve their visual acuity
  • Discuss themes such as religion, gender, and race and how they relate to art
